The UCC Science Society along with Tag Republic hosted a Tag Rugby Blitz in the Mardyke Arena — with eight teams, competing for one incredible prize: queue skip passes for the UCC Science Ball at Rochestown Park Hotel!

The vibes were immaculate with the weather mostly behaving itself, there were plenty of laughs and fun in this beginner friendly tournament with a lot of students trying out tag rugby for the very first time. Our friendly referees were on hand with words of encouragement and a helping hand throughout the day.
After the group games, four teams made it to the semi final stages:
- Balls Deep RFC
- Tagalongs x EtOH x Ion the Ball
- Taguilla
- The Wisemen and The People
The first semi saw Balls Deep RFC make their way to the final with a dominant 12–2 win over Tagalongs x EtOH x Ion the Ball 💪

Meanwhile, The Wisemen and The People narrowly edged out Taguilla in a tense 4–3 thriller to punch their ticket to the big stage.
The final saw Balls Deep RFC take on The Wisemen and the People, after a back-and-forth battle, Balls Deep RFC took the win 4–3 , securing their golden ticket — queue skip passes for the UCC Science Ball! 🥳🎫
